Below is a list of commonly asked questions regarding the Penn Music Database. Please take the time to see if your question is answered below before emailing us. Should your question remain unanswered or you have some suggestions on how we could improve the database, simply email us at info@penncollective.com.
Why can't I login to my account? There are a few reasons wou may not be able to login to your account. Before you can login for the first time, you need to confirm your account. After adding your email address and password, you should have been sent an email with a link to confirm your account. If you haven't done so already, confirm your account and then try to login. If that doesn't change the situation, make sure all previous sessions have been logged out. If someone else was logged into their account on your computer recently, there is a chance that the session is still open. Click here to close any open sessions from your computer. Should those two steps still not fix the problem, double-check the email address and password that you are entering. If you think you may have forgotten your password, refer to the question below. The last possible explanable reason is that your account was suspended. This would happen if profanities or other erroneous information was entered from your account. To date, we haven't had to do this and hope we never will...but rest assured, the option is there. If you account was ever suspended, you would receive an email telling you that your account was suspended with a brief explanation as to why. If you still experience problems logging in after reading all this, email info@penncollective.com for further assistance. I forgot my password. What should I do? If you have forgotten your password, you can change it easily. Before you can change it, however, you'll need to request a 'reset code'. You will have to enter the reset code in order to authorize your request to change your password. To obtain a reset code and further instructions via email, click here. The 'JAM' icon that is displayed next to some names means that particular user has expressed an interest in being contacted to 'jam'. If you're into jamming, don't hesitate to contact users with this icon! I want to add myself to the database, but it says someone has already registered with my email address. How did this happen? Well we can't really tell you how it happened, but we can tell you what to do about it! The PMDB tells you that someone else has registered with your email address when someone attempts to sign up with your particular email address. The first step would be to check your email. If you (or anyone else for that matter) attempted to sign up with your email address before, you should have been sent a confirmation email. This confirmation email only goes to the registered address and no one else; so, even if someone else tried to register with your email address they wouldn't be able to enter information with it unless they have access to your email account. If you have checked and can't find the confirmation email anywhere and still think that you haven't registered yet, wait at least two days and try again. Registrations that are not confirmed within 48 hours are deleted from the database automatically. Thus, if someone else did try to register with your email address, they wouldn't have been able to confirm the account and that particular registration will be removed within 48 hours. If you still experience the problem after trying these steps, go ahead and email info@penncollective.com and we'll look into the situation to try and figure out what is causing the problem. I just registered to add myself to the PMDB and accidentally deleted my confirmation email. What should I do now? No problem. Just go here to have the confirmation email re-sent. Can I change my registered email address? At this time the PMDB does not allow users to change their registered email address. We are working on making this happen -- but in the meantime -- if you really really want to change your registered email address, shoot an email to info@penncollective.com and we'll do it manually for you. How can I change the description of a registered band or performing arts group? The PMDB does not allow users to modify the description or website URL of already registered bands or performing arts groups. This is done for security reasons; we wouldn't want an individual that is not associated with a particular band or group making unauthorized changes to the description; however, requests to modify a band or group's description or website URL can be made by emailing an updated description/URL to info@penncollective.com. In your email, please be sure to state what your afilliation with the band or group that you wish to modify. Authorized requests (those made by band/group members) will be honored. I want to delete my account. How do I do that? While we're sorry to hear that want to be removed from the database; however, we do respect your wishes. For that reason, we've made it easy to delete your profile. Simply login to the 'Modify your info' section and click the 'Remove profile' link.
